Sustainable Environmental Conservation Tournament

The mega sport event in conservation

ABOUT SECOTO

SECOTO, Sustainable Environmental Conservation Tournament, is an innovative project spearheaded by SHUMBUSHO Patience through Eco Arts Initiative. This initiative aims to empower youth by fostering advocacy for environmental protection and cultivating talent in sports, arts, and cultural exchange. SECOTO focuses on creating a sense of earth stewardship through the establishment of UN Sports for Climate and Eco Sports Clubs in local communities. Centered around football, basketball, volleyball, and entertainment, SECOTO operates under the theme of "Engaging Young People in Conservation for Sustainable Development through Sports." With the mantra "We Play, We Connect, We Protect," SECOTO plans to launch globally, starting in 169 countries, and aims to expand further. The initiative culminates in annual events such as the African Green Cup, Asia Green Cup, European Green Cup, Oceanie Green Cup, American Green Cup, South America Green Cup, and World Green Cup.

WHY SECOTO

Climate change is one of the biggest challenge the world is facing now.  Millions of people are already suffering from the catastrophic effects of extreme weather disasters exacerbated by climate change – from prolonged drought in sub-Saharan Africa to devastating tropical storms sweeping across Southeast Asia, the Caribbean and the Pacific. Scorching temperatures have caused deadly heatwaves in Europe and wildfires in South Korea, Algeria and Croatia. There has been severe flooding in Pakistan, while a prolonged and intense drought in Madagascar has left 1 million people with very limited access to adequate food. Energy is at the heart of the climate challenge. Generating electricity and heat by burning fossil fuels coal, oil, or gas – causes a large chunk of the greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide, that blanket the Earth and trap the  sun’s heat. If no action is taken, future generations will face severe consequences.
